Contribution and Scholarship funds to donate to to support education and concerts of the Friends of Big Band Jazz

Friends of Big Band Jazz (FBBJ) is a California 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to perpetuate big band jazz music as an American art form.  We accomplish this by supporting an annual series of public concerts of a 19-piece jazz band (the Mike Vax Jazz Orchestra), and from the proceeds of these performances and the sales of the band's CDs, support young musician jazz education.

Proceeds from our Friends of Big Band Jazz Membership, Sponsor a Musician Program and from ticket sales plus the funding from our Bronze, Silver and Gold Member contributors, have enabled our organization to do great things in the world of jazz and jazz education, such as:

  • Giving scholarships to deserving students for various Jazz Summer Camps
  • Being a sponsor of the tours of the Stan Kenton Legacy Orchestra Being a sponsor of the Prescott, Arizona Jazz Summit and Student Workshops
  • Sponsoring free concerts for music students
  • Sponsoring performances and workshops by our musicians in schools

If you are interested in making a contribution greater than $300.00,
please contact Mike Vax directly at 925-872-1942

Please make a tax deductible donation.

We will be glad to send a CD to any of you who donate at least $40. We will, of course accept any donation no matter how small. We would love to have some larger donations as well. Every dollar will help us toward our goal of bringing Stan Kenton's music and creativity and dedication to education to young people. Anyone donating over $100 will have their name in our tour program as a Tour Supporter.
